EP 89 SAVE THE COMPTON COMMUNITY GARDEN!
Community gardens are shared and sacred spaces that are often laboratories of activism and democracy. In urban environments, they are often the only place where residents can connect with nature and get a taste of what life could be like outside of the confines of the urban matrix. Most importantly, they are portals to lifestyles of self-sufficiency, or Heaven. Recently, the land upon which the Compton Community Garden operates was put up for sale by its owner, and volunteers and others involved with maintaining the garden have organized effectively to pave a way forward. But the battle doesn’t end there, for there is a whole country full of agricultural land, and millions upon millions who need to be fed. What measures have been put in place to confront this land ownership disparity in California and America? How do we scale this battle, utilizing the allies and tools available? Join Adam X and Temu Asyr Bey as they discuss taking this battle for land access to the next level, and how California’s Agricultural Land Equity Task Force aims to confront this issue.
Land is the basis of freedom and independence.
It’s time to play ball.
